About The Functional Perspective
Everything we do at The Functional Perspective is centered around you, the client – because you hold the keys to so many aspects shaping your health. Without your active participation in your journey to health, none of our wisdom will create long-term wellness.
Our Core Values Of Care
A Holistic Approach
Rooted in our focus on participatory self care, it’s our mission to empower you with the knowledge and collective wisdom to create health yourself, no matter where you are right now.
Guided by our functional health team, you will embark on a functional approach to your wellness, drawing from the best of both Eastern and Western philosophies – including smart lifestyle modifications that will significantly improve your health.
You’ll receive dedicated attention from our staff. During your exploratory consultation, you will meet with Salena Rothenberger, D.PSc, CHC, CFMP to review your current health challenges. The two of you will look at a comprehensive list of factors which have a role in health. Together, you will chart a course of a journey to wellness.
No client is exactly the same, and yet there are 9 factors which affect your health. With you as a co-pilot, we will get to the root cause of your dis-ease – suggesting funcitonal tests that your current doctor may not even know about.
We’ll explore your situation holistically, uncovering mediators in your home, at work, and your mental state to arrive at a “lifestyle plan” that puts you back on the road to wellness.
Did you know that it takes on average 17 years for clinical breakthroughs to make their way into the standard of care? At The Functional Perspective, we are deeply committed to shortening that lag.
All our staff are life-long learners, continuously upgrading their wisdom through sharing best practices and seeking out innovative, out-of-the-box ideas to help our clients achieve their health goals.
Root Cause Resolution
Unlike traditional medicine, our approach always focuses on root cause resolution – isolating the key imbalance that is responsible for virtually all symptoms you’re experiencing right now.
Also known as functional health and wellness, we seek to equip you with solutions, not more bandaids to cover up the symptoms (or treating side effects of drugs with even more drugs).
Just like your gut bacteria thrive on symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationships, your desired health outcome is much easier to achieve through the power of community.
We embrace group structures for client education, peer-to-peer support, and accountability – with both your wellness team and your fellow clients rooting for your success.
The Philosophy That Drives Us
The philosophy that motivates everyone at The Functional Perspective is pretty simple:
“Do whatever it takes to effectively, comfortably, and safely empower your client. Whatever that ‘whatever’ is.”
Salena Rothenberger, D.PSc, CFMP, CHC, founded The Functional Perspective on the belief of participatory care where the client is an instrumental partner in returning their body back to health (or keeping it healthy). And that it is not about pre-determined ideas about a diagnosis or symptom management for the masses, without a full understanding of a client’s unique and individual situation.
That’s why The Functional Perspective will leave no stone unturned when it comes to getting to the root cause of your digestive problems. In fact, the medical community finally realizes that all disease starts in the gut, and without taking the gut into account, no autoimmunity and inflammation processes can be addressed at the root cause.
We will integrate findings from the most recent research along with
